Brseč
Brseč is a medieval town of amazing stone beauty. Situated on 157
meters high cliffs overlooking the sea, this town is 20 kilometers away
from Opatija and represents the end of the Liburnia Riviera.
From
Brseč you can enjoy the view of the islands of Cres, Unije, Susak as
well as Učka Mountain's most southern peak Sisol (835m), which can be
reached by hiking trails. The hundred residents of Brseč today guard the
memories of the town's rich history, tradition and the many famous
artists and priests that came from this town. Among them is Archbishop
Josip Uhač, Cardinal of the Holy Roman Church who was buried here in the
Church of St. George. Brseč once lived from agriculture, wine-making,
cattle-breeding and fishing but it is very interesting that for the past
one hundred years, this town has not had any illiteracy.
